Detachment and Yoga

Detachment leads to freedom and happiness. When one is less attached to things, places, people and outcome, one is more free to live out the real self. Without the “mask” on, one becomes happier. According to the Law of Detachment, in order to acquire anything in the physical universe, you have to detach from it.

Ways to practice detachment in yoga

1) Give up your attachment to an ideal pose, so as to achieve it. This is because through detachment, your body will release its resistance, in its time, and become more flexible.

2) Embrace the unknown and watch how innovative solutions to problems automatically appear by themselves.

3) Stay open to the choices Life gives, and step into the field of all possibilities.

“True detachment isn’t a separation from life but the absolute freedom within your mind to explore living.” – Ron W. Rathbun
