Pranaaaaaaaaaaa–yama (sofie)

I should have ordered a t-shirt stating: “I’m only here for the Pranayama”.
I can’t help it, but I just love the breathing part of the daily yoga practise. I honestly think the world would be a better place if all people were focussing a bit more on their breathing. A lot of people don’t even breathe, they just pretend. Crazy world, please take a deep breath!
To come to the studio every morning, after a hectic few hours getting 4 kids ready for school and a busy trip on the mrt, can easily make you breathless. But to sit down and just breathe is such bliss. Inhale, Exhale, Inhale, Exhale. To sense the mind wandering, only to bring it back to the breathing. Calm your body and clear your mind.
My favourite is the Nadi Shodhan, also known as alternate nostril breathing. It is a very calming breathing exercise that balances your right and left parts of your brain and it makes you light and peaceful.
I may forget a few of the difficult Sanskrit names for the asanas, but I will never forget to breathe again!
