Karma yoga is the yoga of action, the path of selfless service. A karma yogi should have non-attachment to the fruits of actions; joyfully involves himself in any activities. He should be absolutely free from lust, greed, anger and egoism. Even if there are traces of these negative qualities, he should try to remove them.
In this modern world, rarely any person is able to become a real karma yogi. We are surrounded by all sorts of personal desires and external seductions, often resulting in Egoism, selfishness, jealousy and all kinds of negative qualities. For us who are born after 80s, it is so difficult to be selfless since we were spoiled by our parents and grandparents since young. I am grateful that I came for the yoga teacher course and being reminded of these values again. I wouldn’t expect myself to become a Karma yogi. However I will at least try my best to live like one, starting from small changes.
I will develop an amiable and loving social nature with tolerance and sympathy. I will learn to adjust with the habits and ways of others with an all-inclusive heart. I will try my best to have a cool and balanced mind, lead a very simple life, not easily affected by trifling things. Through helping others and rejoicing the welfare of others, my heart will be purified. Only selflessness will get me a broad and liberal outlook on life and eventually I will obtain knowledge of the Self.
