Yoga and Ayurveda used as therapy

It might sound a revelation to Western people but funnily it is as if we were saying: medication used as a remedy! In the Indian culture Yoga is not only exercises to practice in a fitness center, in this country those physical exercises are called Asana and it is only one of the eight limps of Yoga for them.

In India Yoga is a medicine for the mind and body together with Ayurveda for more than 6000 years. It is one of the most complex medicine system as it globally integrate the physical health, the psychological health as well as its environment all together connected. When Ayurveda uses food and plants to cure, yoga uses physical exercises, breathing technics and meditation.

Here are examples of conditions Yoga is able to cures: Back pain, Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, PMS, Migraines, the Flux, Hangover but also Arthritis, hot Flashes, vertigo, excess of cellulite and much more other symptoms and illness.

Ayurveda is based on the idea that there is different people’s types called Dosha and that everybody should follow a personal diet according to its Dosha’s nature. The main Doshas are Vata, Pita and Kapha but you can be a combination of two. Also the idea is that your body is changing and evolving with the time.

Therefore in practice you would heal the root of the symptoms by Purifying your body with breathing technique such as Pranayama, use Asana poses and Meditation using Mudras that help to adjust your chakras. A diet that fits your Dosha would be followed as well.
