What’s the deal with crystals and chakras?

Crystals have been known and prized for their beauty and their healing and spiritual properties. Adorned by the rich and powerful for thousands of years. Not only is it a display of wealth, it also expresses the hope that the qualities and virtues thought to reside in the stones themselves would ‘rub off’ their wearers.

Crystals form only in the right circumstances. Often formed in nature when liquids cool and start to harden. Certain molecules in the liquid gather together as they attempt to become stable. They do this in a uniform and repeating pattern that forms into what we call it today, a crystal.

As the saying goes, ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.’ But why in the world are we so attracted to a piece of rock. We spends thousands, even millions for a piece that is barely visible to the naked eye. The most expensive crystal in the world is called the blue diamond. It is valued to be $3.93 million dollars per carat.

I personally don’t have much experience with crystals myself, tho i had a bit of time during circuit breaker and chanced upon these beautiful ads of crystals online which intrigued me to learn more about them. I learnt that each crystal has its own unique energetic properties.

A clear quartz is said to amplify energy by absorbing, storing, releasing, and regulating it and aids concentration and memory. Rose quartz is said to encourage love, respect, trust, and worth within one’s self. My personal favourite, the amethyst. This purple stone is said to be incredibly protective, healing, and purifying. It’s claimed it can help rid the mind of negative thoughts and bring forth humility, sincerity, and spiritual wisdom. It’s also said to help promote sobriety and so forth.

How are crystals related to chakras you may ask? Each chakra is associated with a particular area of the body and a color of the spectrum. Stones are used at chakra centers for clearing, revitalising, and healing. Generally, the selection of stones correspond with the associated colour of the chakra.

Ideally you would place the stones corresponding to your chakra points.
Base Chakra – Between the inner thighs, close to your perineum
Sacral Chakra – Between your hip bones
Solar Plexus Chakra – Between your lower ribs and belly button
Heart Chakra – At your sternum (not to the left, where your physical heart is; directly in the middle of your chest)
Throat Chakra – At your throat (or off your body beside your throat, if you find that it falls off)
Third Eye Chakra – Between the eyebrows
Crown Chakra – Off the body, above your head

It is said that crystals affect our chakras by lifting their vibration, clearing them, and causing them to ‘spin’ at an optimal rate. Crystals possess high vibrational frequencies, and simply being around crystals and setting your intention to attune to their vibration can have a profound effect on your health and wellbeing.

Master Sree always says, ‘you have to experience it to believe it’. Keep an open mind and a get a crystal that you’re drawn to. It might just be your best purchase yet.
