Sadhana Practice (meditation.)
Most yogis through out history have said that no effort is needed to realize the self. In fact efforting and the fluctuations of the mind are the only reasons we have not realized our true nature thus far. Therefor seekers often try to calm the mind. To make it quiescent. Most methods used to do this, however, only lead to more thought. More fluctuations. Fluctuations that are aimed at stopping the earlier fluctuations that gave rise to them. Which is quite counter productive.
The most useful/impactful method for making the mind more quiescent has historically been to adopt a sadhana practice. For this reason a sadhana practice is an essential tool on any yogi or mystics journey towards freedom.
