Chakras – and Healing Through It

Another topic which provoke thoughts during the training has got to be Chakras.

So in Sanskrit, it is derived from the word “wheel,” where the physical and spiritual elements come together creating energy in the body, and into the chakras. These swirling wheels of energy align along the spine, starting with the Muladhara or root chakra located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor, and the first three vertebrae.

Here comes why its thought provoking: Apparently each energy centre can either be open, spinning quickly and liberally, and allowing for fluidity or it can be closed (which means this energy is blocked from experiencing a smooth and graceful presence). When it is closed, you may find yourself feeling “off,” experiencing tension, negative emotions, and more.

How To Open The Root Chakra:

Using Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit while enhancing both physical and emotional health. To open the root chakra, try burning earthy essential oils or candles like sandalwood, rosewood, or ginger. This allows you to achieve that balance.

Positive Affirmations

To open the root chakra, repetitions of affirmations helps set intention that you are breaking old patterns and creating new ones. This align with feelings of safety and stability. Some examples:

  • We are in a safe place.
  • We are in a secured place.
  • We love our body, and ourselves.

Yoga Asanas

Yoga helps connect the spiritual and physical of the body through asanas, works to move energy in our body even when you are not focusing on it.  When we understand more about the chakras, it leads us to feeling more balanced and whole in many ways.  Connecting to the breath while holding asanas helps to release tension and open the root chakra. Some great asanas include Tadasana, Warriors, Hip Opening and Child’s Pose.

Opening chakras is by no means diagnosing you in any way – end of day, it can be used as a tool better balance yourself in life, understand how you can realign these wheels and become whole. Use this as a guide to better understand your strength and weakness as well as for your spiritual growth!
