We can survive pretty much without anything but air. However, I don’t think many of us are aware of how important our breath is or how it actually affects us. When we talk about the respiratory system, we only think about inhalation and exhalation or at the most the oxygen that circulates in our body. But, there’s more to it than just that.
It is the respiratory system that helps us to take in the Prana, which yoga has taught me. It is not just the oxygen but also the vital energy that we inhale that has several benefits to our body like improves blood circulation, digestion, balances our emotions and it can even help us to manage pain.
Learning how to be aware of my breath and not jus leaving it to unconscious breathing in and out of oxygen, I feel that I can take control of my emotions better.
