Bhujangasana

We had our final exams today, it was a very intense and sweaty practice but fun at the same time.  You can see everybody at their best alignment, drishti and pranayama.  Everybody looked so graceful and beautiful with all the asanas.  At some point, there were cards layed on the floor for us to teach with a time limit.  Tadah!!! I picked a card and got Bhunjangasana – Cobra Pose.

Bhujanga is a sanskrit name meaning Serpent and Asana is Pose.  It’s also the 7th pose in Surya Namaskar, a very nice symmetrical prone backward-bending pose.  The head and trunk resembles a cobra with raise hood.  7th pose, Lucky 7? ahahahahaha!  Beginning today, I shall celebrate 31 May as my “Bhujangasana Day”.   Every 31st May, I will always have a theme class and that will be Bhujangasana to commemorate a wonderful and another unforgettable chapter of my life.  To add a little twist let’s incoporate Bhujangasana with knees flexed and be super duper happy, happy, joy,  joy!

Wait up, here are some of the benefits of Bhujangasana:

  • Strengthens the arms and shoulders.
  • Firms and tones the Gluteus Maximus.
