My Yoga Journey πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ New Experiences

πŸŒžπŸŒ™

As my yoga journey continues, I realized that there are too many things I do not know and I need to be open to step into it.

Firstly, all along I only knew yoga as only one type which is the floor yoga. Only thru Nithyananda Yoga, I was introduced to 3 types of yoga – floor yoga (Prathama Vinyasa Krama <PVK>), rope yoga (Kundalini Raju Yoga), and pole yoga (Shivasthamba Yoga).

After doing floor PVK daily for about 10 months, it was time to proceed to another type of yoga – rope yoga.

We invited a rope yoga master from India to Singapore to teach us rope yoga for 4 days in Jan 2019.

First thing to do was to be in oneness with the rope. It may sound easy but with a logical mind, being oneness instantly requires time. I learnt that one is part of everything. And everything is part of me. Everything that happened to me is what I attracted. No right or wrong, just my beliefs. Simply just rules are set me.

Next was to learn how to use my toes to grip onto the rope and climb up. Fear thoughts started to appeared – pain, instability and no strength etc.

My toes were sore as I was not used to using that part of my body. We have 108 mama points of Ayurveda. By doing rope yoga, one can strengthen mama points which are beneficial to good health. And there is a mama point between the toes where I use to climb up the rope.

To be honest, overcoming the toe pain was my 1st obstacle. It took time and for my first few sessions, I was not really enjoying the session.

My guru asked me to do and there must be a reason. I asked myself why am I doing this?

I started to see my fear of pain. Reflecting the incidents that created this fear pattern. Incidents that I had long forgotten started to appear. The more I do Kundalini Rope Yoga, my fear reduced as the mama point strengthen.

Initially, I could only climb 3 baby steps up on the rope. With weekly practice for 3 months, I could climb up and do a Padmasana on the rope. And 6 months, I could do a simple jump easily.

As I started to search within myself more when doing yoga and my interest in yoga grew. As a result, I planned to attend a weekend yoga teacher course as I was worried about the time I have for work and study at the same time. Time was tight. I was encouraged to attend Tirisula Yoga Teacher Training full time course with Sean & Dorisq as they could assist me when I needed help. So here I am, taking a full time course with them. By far, even though it was stressful juggling work with study, I did enjoyed and did not regret taking a full time course at Tirisula. Everything happens for a reason and I learnt that my samskara has brought me to Tirisula.

I am grateful & thankful to my course mates and my teacher Sree for my journey at TirisulaπŸ™

My Yoga Journey πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Health

πŸŒžπŸŒ™

My health was not the best when I was younger. Mainly 2 issues – severe menstrual cramps in my teens and poor digestion including lactose intolerance.

During my teens, I had severe menstrual cramps. Literally I can only lie on belly to rest with a pale face. Teachers would sent me to sick bay just by looking at my face.

I was determined not to be dependent on painkillers and over the years, I had been searching for natural remedies. I believed that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) would help me. Tried a few and finally found one at a medical hall in Clementi.

With persistence and dedication, for about 4 years my menstrual cramp decreased and even disappeared by changing my diet including taking TCM.

As I was travelling pretty intensively for business trips 10 years ago, I couldn’t keep brewing my TCM when I was in overseas. I then had the same prescription changed to powder form but it didn’t worked as well. My stomach absorbed nutrients better in liquid form. I then foundΒ Β therapeutic essential oils as a substitute to TCM as it is time consuming. It worked well and will apply essential oils once awhile.

HOW DID YOGA CHANGED MY LIFE?

After 1 month of daily yoga since 5th March 2017, I started to realize that I didn’t need anything – neither TCM nor essential oils, and the result is no more menstrual cramps! After 3 months, I didn’t have any Pre Menstrual Symptoms (PMS). I never thought this day of being free from pain was just simply changing my lifestyle – To have it without any PMS was like extra bonus! Until one had suffered enough, then one will change and appreciate the freedomπŸ™

In addition to doing yoga, most of the days I took sattvic food and was losing weight gradually – around 8 to 10kg in weight when I changed my lifestyle towards a yogic one. For the past one and half year, I was fortunate to had done few Kriyas, Dhauti, Chakra cleansing, and Meditation as suggested by my guru. Now my digestion is improving and I am slowly eating vegetables that I had been avoiding for years.

Be it for whatever reason, I would highly recommend anyone whom truly love oneself to go towards Yogic lifestyle as the benefits that one could gain is be beyond one’s imagination if one is open-minded. My current health is way better than 10 years ago. And I have never looked back sinceπŸ™

I learnt not to take my health for granted. Am grateful!

My Yoga Journey πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Asanas

πŸŒžπŸŒ™

My Nithyanada Yoga journey began with 108 asanas.

For the first few days, I struggled with more than half of the asanas.

I realized that it is not about our physical size when one is unable to do the asanas. Until I learn Nithyananda Yoga, my idea was that my physical body needs to be slim to do the asanas. There were 6 of us taking the 21 days and when doing the asanas, I pondered when I could not do the asanas while some could.

I particularly remembered Kakasana (Crow Pose) where my fellow class mate did it effortlessly on his first attempt, and he was much bigger in size. Despite my few attempts in class, my knees could not remain on the arms. Thinking it was something wrong with me, I went home that night and kept doing Kakasana. Only to realised that I was creating self-harm to myself when the Nithyananda Yoga Acharya saw my bruised arms the next day. From then onwards, I learnt to be non-violent or Ahimsa to my body.

My next challenging asanas were all the inverted poses – Gohi, Sirsasana (Head stand), Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Hand stand). My fear of heights, instability, & uncertainty all came out!!!

To overcome this, Acharya then made us do alot of rolling and then slowly roll with cushions surrounding the yoga as protection. After lots of attempts and with guru protection, I was able to improve and eventually do most of the asanas. Gohi being the easiest of all inverted pose was the first asana that I could do in about 25 weeks with daily practice. To me, it was a great achievement as I never thought I could do with so much fear in me.

There has been updates in the Nithyananda Yoga few months ago, and Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Hand stand) has been removed to the next level. Therefore, I had stopped practicing it since, and start to focus to other new asanas. I believe that each asanas will help me to achieve the another asanas. As long as I continue doing yoga, Pancha Kriya, and take Sattvic food, I know it will bring me to the path of Nirvana.

I am grateful to my guru 🌟 Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam for his guidance & protection πŸ™

My Yoga Journey πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

πŸŒžπŸŒ™

Yoga was something I wanted to learn many years ago (around 10 years ago). I attempted 2 free trials within that year but I felt it was not the right place where I should start.

Either it was too far or timing was not suitable, I just could not find anything. So my yoga journey was on hold until my guru 🌟 Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam came into my life πŸ’

When I was at his adheenam in Bangalore, India on December 2017, yoga was part of the program. At that time, I had very poor back posture due to long hours of driving. To give an idea how poor it is, my masseur told me my right back is protruding out while the left has sunken in. Due to my occupation as a driver πŸš• , regular massage was part of my weekly routine but it only relieved the muscle tension for a short time. After doing basic Nithyananda Yoga daily and Kriyas at his adheenam for almost one month, my body felt so relieved. From that day onwards, I knew Yoga will be part of my life.

With my guru’s blessings, he arranged a Yoga Acharya (initiated facilitator) to be based in Singapore. That is it! It is a sign to take up the 21 day’s yoga course. Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  No more excuses for me not to start yoga.

On 5th March 2018, I officially started my yoga journey. In order to obtain best result, I was encouraged to do my yoga with these 2 conditions for the next straight 21 days.

Firstly, I got to be on sattvic diet. It was challenging for me as it is not easily available in Singapore. Either I get it at Little India, cook myself or on liquid diet – Nirahara Samyama. Well, I chose to cook some 🌽, take fruits πŸ’ and organic alternative milk drink 🍡.

Next, I need to clean my body using Pancha Kriya. Lucky for me, this was not an issue as I had started Pancha Kriya since I went to India.

Now looking back after one and half year later, the changes I attained from Nithyananda yoga was way beyond my imagination. I am thankful and grateful to my guru for guiding me to the traditional yoga as I definitely gained better health and feel more calm than before
