The Chakra topic led me to a time in my early twenties where I was hurt deeply by a loved one. It took me a long period to heal from the pain and a longer time to deal with the grief. Nobody seems to be trustworthy enough for me to crawl out from my safety shell. I prevented myself from giving and receiving love.

With great support from friends and family, I slowly learned to let go and to forgive. A heavy burden was lifted off my chest when I began to open my heart to new people and new experiences.

The Anahata chakra, also known as the Heart Chakra, is about love and compassion. The name implies that beneath the hurts and grievances of past experiences, lies a pure and spiritual place where no hurt exists. It is about making choices, to hold grudges or to let go.

Life is too short to fret the small stuff. It doesn’t take much to foster healthy relationships. Just show empathy, give generous affirmations and hugs or simply smile!
