What does having asthmatic attack feel like?

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease in which the airways or the breathing tubes in the lungs become inflamed, narrowed and obstructed, causing breathing difficulty. It is a very common disease worldwide, which affects people of all ages, race and gender.

Other symptoms of an asthma attack may include:

  • Severe wheezing when breathing both in and out
  • Coughing that won’t stop
  • Very rapid breathing
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Tightened neck and chest muscles, called retractions
  • Difficulty talking
  • Feelings of anxiety or panic
  • Pale, sweaty face
  • Blue lips or fingernails
  • Or worsening symptoms despite use of your medications

For me, it feels as though someone is squeezing my lungs. Asthma is usually more common in children and teenagers and it can be life threatening if its not properly managed. Research has shown that asthmatic patients who have learnt yoga allows them to manage the symptoms properly.
