Kavin Kumar has been a sports enthusiast for most of his life. Having been overweight in his younger days, he was determined to make himself fitter and healthier through a committed gym routine along with a combination of cardio-vascular exercises like running and Cross-fit. Unfortunately, the rigorous weight-lifting routines developed a physique that was rather inflexible and lacking foundational core strength. In the long run, he realised that over development of the muscles lead to an imbalance in strength that was, in fact, destructive to the body’s natural being.
Upon discovery of Asana practice, Kavin discovered the areas in his body in which he lacked endurance and control of strength. Yoga provided the foundation he needed to strengthen not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well.
Having endured injuries in the shoulders and knees previously, Kavin understands the importance of proper alignment and technique in his Yoga Asana practice. Through understanding Yoga techniques, Kavin is able to provide healing tools for those with shoulder and knee injuries as well.
Kavin wants to share with enthusiasts like himself who are very focused upon a particular sport or exercise to develop strength and stamina for overall improvement of performance.
“Man is made by his belief, as he believes so he is” is one of his favorite quotes from the Bhagavad Gita. Kavin believes that first step to a better life is to view life through a joyous lens. This is something he believes that consistent Yoga practice has helped him achieve and will help him continue to expand on as he continues his practice. Through Master Teacher Paalu Ramasmy of Tirisula Yoga, Kavin has found himself well-educated in Yoga philosophy and teachings as well.
