It is an annual
event where Tirisula Yoga brings our students and friends for a
Yoga Retreat @ India. Sometimes, more than once a year. We had
fun times and special experiences each time we go.
Keep
re-visiting this page for updates on the India Yoga Retreat
2009. We will go around the October to November 2009.
Rishikesh - known as the "City of the Divine"- is a spiritual center
to which sages, rishis, saints and pilgrims have flocked there. Rishikesh is one of the holiest cities of India, the hatha yoga
capital of the world, a totally vegetarian town. It's about a 6
hours ride from Delhi, and Rishikesh is also a major gateway to the
Himalayas. About 26 Kms from Haridwar. Located in the laps of lower
Himalayas, and is surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three
sides with Holy Ganga flowing through it.
The pace in Rishikesh is much more mellow than Delhi, and you will
enjoy walking about town undisturbed by touts and hawkers The whole
place is considered to be sacred as it is believed that meditation
at this place leads to attainment of salvation. There are many
temples-some ancient, some new along the river Ganges. Rishikesh is
important not only as pilgrimage centre closely associated with the
Ramayana, but also as home for many important centres of Hindu
religious thought and spirituality, and famous Yoga Centres. There
are many ashrams and Yoga institutes here.
The main part of the Yoga Retreat is Yoga Training and Ashram experience
on the bank of holy river Ganges. Here, you will experience the
spiritualism and discipline in one of the largest Ashram in Rishikesh. As you stay in the ashram, you will feel your soul
bathing in the peace of sacred energies, including those that
emanate from nature and those that linger from the timeless healing
powers of saints, sages and holy ones.
It is an experience of a lifetime you must not miss.
Vegetarian meals will be provided throughout the whole retreat.
Tour
Lakshman Jhula
The bridge has been a major attraction among the tourists to
Rishikesh. The suspension iron bridge Lakshman Jhula was build in
1929. This is where Rama's brother Lakshaman is said to have crossed
the river on a jute ropes. One can enjoy the spectacular
surroundings and the cool breeze from the River while standing on
the bridge. Enjoy shopping for yoga books, accessories, clothes,
souvenirs, crystal necklaces, cds etc
Ram Jhula Another suspended bridge close to Lakshman Juhla is the Ram
Jhula- This suspended bridge was recently build between Shivanand
Ashram and Sawarg Ashram. It is similar to the Lakshman Jhula. Ram
Juhla is also known as Shivanand Jhula. Shops are along the street
with lots of souvenirs, handicrafts, books, cds, clothes,
accessories etc.
Mussourie
Mussourie near Dehradun is the most fascinating hill resort of India
located at an elevation of about 2005.5 meters above sea level. Also
called the 'Queen of the Himalayas', Mussourie has picturesque
landscape with fascinating green hills and varied flora and fauna.
From the lush green hill of Mussourie, you can have a spectacular
view of the commanding snow ranges in the north-eastern side.
River Rafting
Trip (Optional activity at an additional cost)
An easy rafting tripcovers about 10-kms of river running. First
drive to Brahmpuri, and then take a boat to ride the currents of the
water of the Ganges. Raft down through the heart of Laxman Jhula,
and Geet Bhawan to Muni-Ki-Reti and witness the numerous ashrams,
yoga and meditation institutes and bathing Ghats with pilgrims
taking a holy dip in the Ganges river water. Rafting certainly
presents a better way to witness Rishikesh - the town of temples,
ashrams and the Ghats.
