Meditation

What is meditation?
“Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content, or as an end in itself.
– Excerpt from Wikipedia
Whenever you try to gather information about meditation, a lot of words come into place which often places you into a state of confusion (which is funny because you are obviously looking to quiet your mind rather than taxing it further).
In modern times whereby technology is flying off the charts everyday, it is no surprise that there is an app for meditation. A friend of mine has recently introduced Headspace to me. It is a very cute and cheerful app which helps you “train” and “compartmentalize” your mind. They call themselves a gym membership for your mind.
The app has different levels and sessions which you can tap into, suiting your mood, lifestyle or even issues happening in your life. Its plays upon regular mindfulness practice through meditation will help one to regain focus, which in turn lead to a peaceful mind and wellbeing.
It also plays on convenience whereby you can meditate on the go or even download the sessions and play it offline. This obviously appeals to the younger generation or the tech savvy population. My take is if you are a noob (like me) to meditation and don’t really know how to go about practicing, this is a great app to start with. In addition, it seems like a fun alternative to give a better understanding of meditation.
No matter which avenue you take in order to practice meditation, just remember this – there is no right or wrong way in meditation, what’s important is how you feel and if it helps you attain the peace of mind that you are looking for. Cheers!
