Yoga for Self-Practice (YSP) / 50 Hr Yoga Foundation

Yoga, traditionally, is an individual practice. For Ashtanga Yoga, in Mysore (a place in India), no instructions are given during the asana (yoga poses)  practice. Practitioners perform a set of about 70+ yoga poses in a continuous flow, and the guru will adjust and correct you.

The most important thing about yoga asana practice is to go inward, focusing on your breath, gaze and bandha (lock), which is 180 degrees different from what is happening currently in the common Yoga classes in Singapore and the region.

Yoga helps you go inwards.

However, nowadays the yoga asanas practice in most fitness centres and yoga studios brings you outward, as you have to rely on the yoga teacher’s instructions and look at the demonstration. Furthermore, mirrors can be a big distraction. Also, the ‘yoga class’ has been treated like an exercise and no theory knowledge is being taught.

We want to teach you Yoga done in a traditional way, to make you independent for your own Yoga practice.

Now most of the Yoga courses are teacher training courses, where the teaching elements are taught and there is exam. But there are so many people out there who just want to learn Yoga properly, without the intention of becoming a Yoga teacher. There are not many non-teaching yoga courses available here.

Who should do this YSP/50 Hr Yoga Foundation course?
This course is for those who do not want to be a yoga teacher or a yoga instructor but  just want to do it for self-practice and self-improvement. It caters for regular yoga practitioners, Yoga beginners and those who have not done yoga before.
What is covered in the course?

The topics covered in this part of the course give beginners, and those who do not have a clear understanding of the elements of Yoga, a firm foundation. These elements and their precise explanations may not have been handled by those who practice in other yoga studios. The teachers in these studios may not have the time and/or the knowledge to explain the critical messages embedded in the practice.

We cover adjustments, alignments, anatomy and physiology and yoga philosophy in detail to give a thorough basic understanding.

After the course, a non-teaching certificate of participation is awarded.

What is special about this course?
Firm basic foundation on the concepts of Yoga and its practice, to enable you to do self practice safely, and understanding the effects of each yoga posture (asana) and pranayama.

After the YSP/50 Hr Yoga Foundation Course, you will not have to depend on going to Yoga studios for classes anymore
