We are more alike my friends than we are unalike…

“I note the obvious differences
in the human family.
Some of us are serious,
some thrive on comedy…
I note the obvious differences
between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.” Maya Angelou

As we come to end of our journey together in this 200hr Yoga Teacher Training, I can say that I will truly miss the time that I have spent with my fellow students and teachers during the last six weeks. This has been just one chapter in my life, but has once again reinforced what I have always believed..that we are more alike than we are unalike. We see so much division in the world based on superficial things such as skin color, culture, religion, age, etc. We divide ourselves, make it us against them, tell ourselves that we are better or worse than others, but the real truth can be seen when we explore our true nature. We all want to realize our higher purpose in life and to make the most out of the life that we have been given. Yoga encourages us to take the path that leads us to experience our inner truth. Through understanding and following the 8 limbs of Asthanga we can realize the nature of ourselves and the universe. It is only when we remove the superficial things that keep us divided, that we can come together and understand the truth.

I place my hands together at my heart chakra, bow my head and thank each of you for sharing this journey with me. Namaste
